William and Dorothy Floyd Babcock Fund
A member of the class of 1953, Bill Babcock earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from Penn State. In 1957, he joined the State College Area School District. He retired in 1984, after serving 17 years as superintendent and 10 years as a junior high school principal. During his tenure as superintendent, Bill focused on giving students more options, such as vocational training, independent study, and advanced placement classes, as well as access to college courses at Penn State prior to their high school graduation. Dottie shared his passion for education, working as an English teacher and serving as a community leader. At home, Bill and Dottie raised three girls, Carol, Nancy, and Dorothy, who are alumnae of the State College Area High School. In 2000, Bill and Dottie joined Centre Foundation's Campbell Society with the establishment of their fund for use by the State College School District's Superintendent to enhance educational activities within the District.
