Rita K. and Robert L. Kidwell Fund
Bob and Rita Kidwell were married in 1954 and then built a house in Pine Grove Mills, where they lived for the next 53 years. From 1968 until his retirement in 1990, Bob worked for Cerro Metals. He enjoyed outdoor activities and was also a dedicated blood donor – donating over 23 gallons! Rita worked as a secretary to the dean of women at Penn State before becoming a full-time mom to the couple’s two daughters and one son. When her youngest began school at Pine Grove Mills Elementary, she began working there until her retirement in 1992. Rita now resides at The Village at Penn State; she has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills. This fund supports Centre Foundation’s discretionary funds, which are used to meet the changing needs of Centre County residents. In a unique role as philanthropic leaders of the community, foundation board members and staff are equipped to understand the changing needs of the community and to focus grants where they can make the most impact over the years.
