Marian Faris Fund

Marian Puckey Faris was a lifelong resident of central Pennsylvania and dedicated her life to education.  She graduated as the salutatorian and valedictorian from Altoona Area High School and Lock Haven State Teachers College, respectively.  She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State and then became a principal at Madison Elementary School in Altoona. She later taught math at Altoona High before retiring in 1969.  Marian was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church, the Senior Citizens Club and Center in State College, and held county, state, and national memberships with education associations.  She was also active with the Centre County Historical Association, Pi Lambda Theta Education Honorary Fraternity, and Altoona Chapter's Order of the Eastern Star. This fund supports Centre Foundation’s discretionary funds, which are used to meet the changing needs of Centre County residents.
