Kathryn S. Weaver Fund
Kathryn Weaver was born in 1908 in Mount Eagle, near Milesburg. She and her husband Walter M. Weaver, a teacher and then principal of the Lemont Elementary School, lived in Lemont most of their lives. She was involved with many civic organizations and worked actively with her church, Faith United Church of Christ in State College. She cared for those around her, visiting the sick and always making time to talk with friends and strangers. In honor of her early, unexpected, and significant support, Centre Foundation created an award in her name. The Kathryn S. Weaver Award is presented annually to a local charitable organization for noteworthy service to the people of Centre County. This fund supports many organizations in Centre County on an annual basis. Half of the annual distributions are made at the discretion of the Foundation to make a difference where there is the greatest need. The remaining half is divided equally among Centre County American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Heart and Lung Association, Centre County Easter Seals, Centre County March of Dimes, and the State College Ambulance Club.
