Karen was a devoted mom and a passionate fan of State High athletics. Four Ganter boys, Jon, Chris, Jason and Ben were all active in football, track, and baseball at State College High. If State College was her passion, Penn State was her work. Karen was the dedicated wife of Penn State Assistant Head Football Coach Fran Ganter. She graciously endured the extremely challenging schedule and demands of her husband's career, yet never missed one of her sons’ games. This fund will provide two annual awards. One will be given to a graduating State College Area High School senior who exhibits commendable academic achievement, is active in school and/or community activities, and demonstrates a deep loyalty for the school. The second award will honor an outstanding State High senior football player selected by the team and coaching staff for his exemplary sportsmanship, scholarship, leadership, sacrifice, and commitment.
