Jean Brenchley Women Anglers Support Fund
This fund supports the sport of fly fishing for women and helps the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited (SCCTU) to develop a strong female presence by providing yearly monies that the SCCTU Women Anglers can use to teach fly fishing skills to women. Jean Brenchley retired from Penn State after establishing herself as a disciplined researcher, educator, and leader in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department. Jean's colleague, Al Philips, convinced her to give fly fishing a try, and she quickly became "hooked." She became known as a very reliable volunteer for the SCCTU and was always willing to participate in educational events in the community. In the summer of 2018, Jean was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that took its toll. When faced with the inevitable, she thought not only of her family but of her very enjoyable years with the Women Anglers and the value of Al Phillips taking the time and patience to introduce her to fly fishing. Her dedication to education and the empowering sport of fly fishing will live on through this generous donation.
