J. Alvin and Vera E. Knepper Hawbaker Memorial Fund
J. Alvin Hawbaker, founder of Park Forest Enterprises, Inc., got his start in State College as a residential home builder and developer. J. Alvin established his first company, CV Construction, in 1943, and it thrived in State College until J. Alvin went out on his own to develop the wooded neighborhood now known as Park Forest Village. He and wife Vera donated land for schools, public parks, and churches including Trinity Lutheran Church, Park Forest Baptist Church, and Park Forest Village United Methodist Church. In 2007, she donated her former residence as a parsonage for the Park Forest Village United Methodist Church. Through Centre Foundations competitive grants, this fund will support organizations which provide vital health and education services across Centre County.
