Helen Sue Litke Forman Fund
A Philipsburg native and graduate of State College Area High School class of 1956, Helen earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Penn State in 1960 and a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1962. That same year, she married Lawrence S. T. Forman in Bangkok, Thailand, where Helen taught American History and English at MahaChulalonghorn University, while Lawrence directed the Thailand-US Fulbright program. They had two sons and lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where Helen taught at the local elementary school. Sadly, Lawrence died in 1985, and the family moved to Delaware. Helen continued to teach elementary students and gained a reputation for training superior math and world geography students for state competitions. In 1997, Helen retired to State College, where she enjoyed reading, dancing, golfing, birding, and traveling. The Helen Sue Litke Forman Fund was established in Helen's memory by her sister, Donna Litke, and will be distributed to non-profits providing emotional and financial support to Centre County parents overcome with grief.
