Elizabeth “Betsy” K. Held was born in 1937 in Upper Darby and graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1955. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology from Hood College in 1959 and then married Richard “Dick” G. Held in 1962. She worked in cancer research for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and then for Park Forest Elementary School and Penn State. An avid fiction reader, she volunteered at Schlow Library. She also enjoyed spending time at the seashore and traveling with her sons, Raymond and Thomas Held, as well as with her five grandchildren. A member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Betsy will be remembered by many. This fund will provide annual support for two of Betsy’s favorite passions: Centre County PAWS and Schlow Library.
