Dr. Brown held a doctoral degree in applied mathematics and was a professor of engineering at Penn State from 1969 until his retirement in 1987. To honor John’s love for the study of mathematics, his wife Lynn Sidehamer Brown established this memorial fund to provide scholarships to Centre County high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in mathematics and intend to continue their course of study at the collegiate level.
