Donald M. and Mildred D. Woomer Fund
Donald (Don) and Mildred (Mid) Woomer were both Bellefonte natives and graduates of Bellefonte High School. Don joined Titan _ now Cerro Metal Products _ in 1945 and worked as a supervisor of quality control until his retirement in 1982. Mid attended Mansfield University and Penn State, where she later worked for 27 years before retiring in 1969 as the secretary to the dean of continuing education. Longtime residents of Pleasant Gap, the Woomers enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Friends described the couple as "devoted to each other." They briefly lived in Arizona and Florida during their retirement years before returning home to State College. Mid was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 388. This fund supports Centre Foundation's discretionary funds, which are used to meet the changing needs of Centre County residents. In a unique role as philanthropic leaders of the community, foundation board members and staff are equipped to understand the changing needs of the community and to focus grants where they can make the most impact over the years.
