Christina was a microbiologist, working for several private sector companies before coming to Penn State in 1963 to become a professor. After retiring in 1990, she traveled extensively but also found time to be an active volunteer in the community. She assisted foreign students with tax issues and also was an active volunteer at Schlow Centre Region Library. She provided this bequest to assure that there would always be fresh flowers in the library, and beautiful gardens outside.  As specified in Christina's will, the fund is to "be used for flowers to be placed weekly at the front desk" and for other plants, landscaping, and gardens of the Schlow Centre Region Library.
