Bodnar-Gill Memorial Scholarship Fund
In 1980, Thomas Bodnar and Dr. Ed Gill met as members of the same Phi Kappa Theta pledge class and soon become lifelong friends. While Ed was completing medical school, Tom provided him with housing. Ed served as Tom’s Best Man when he married Heather, and he was the godfather of their daughter, Katie. Although both fought with the tenacity of warriors, Ed and Tom both passed away from cancer—Ed from pancreatic cancer in 2012 and Tom from liver cancer in 2015. In honor of their memories and brotherhood to each other, the Bodnar-Gill Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to Penn State students who have been negatively affected by cancer. Additional consideration will be given to active members or direct relatives of Phi Kappa Theta members and students serving on the THON executive committee. Students must exemplify the values that Tom and Ed held dear: kindness, service to others, and the love of all things Penn State.
