For the sixth year in a row, the Centre County community has broken a Centre Gives record by raising $1,425,795 via 9,659 total gifts in 36 hours.

“We are so thrilled,” said Molly Kunkel, Executive Director at Centre Foundation. “We’re so proud of this community that continues to support our nonprofits year after year.”

Gifts go further during Centre Gives, thanks to a $200,000 stretch pool provided by Centre Foundation and the Hamer Foundation, along with $27,000 in prizes.

Prizes of $1,000 were awarded to the top five large and small organizations with the most unique donors for the entirety of Centre Gives. Large organizations included: Centre County PAWS, Schlow Library Foundation, ClearWater Conservancy, State College Food Bank, and The State Theatre. Small organizations included: Centre Wildlife Care, Pets Come First, Penns Valley Conservation Association, Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County, and Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania.

Power Hour Prizes of $500 were awarded to the large and small organizations with the most unique donors during a given hour. Large organizations included: Schlow Library Foundation, Strawberry Fields, Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, Centre Volunteers in Medicine, State College Food Bank, Centre County PAWS, The State Theatre, Discovery Space, and ClearWater Conservancy.

Small organizations included: TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania, State College Area Roller Derby, Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Penns Valley Conservation Association, Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania, Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County, and Penns Valley Youth Center.

Finally, pre-event prizes of $250 were awarded randomly to organizations who participated in the March Success Series trainings and Facebook challenges. Winning organizations included: Centre County PAWS, State College Area Roller Derby, The State Theatre, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy, and State College Community Land Trust.

Since Centre Gives began in 2012, about $6.8 million has been invested into the local nonprofit network, supporting organizations in the areas of arts, animals, education, environment, and health and social services.

Centre Gives 2018 was sponsored by many forward-thinking members of the community, including the Hamer Foundation, Nestlerode and Loy Investment Advisors, First National Bank, M&T Bank, Frost & Conn, The Mazza Law Group, Baker Tilly, Tom & Sara Songer of The Torron Group, Morgan Stanley, Balfurd Dry Cleaners, and an anonymous donor.
