This fund was established by Betty J. Quarles, who graduated from State College Area High School in 1936 and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State and Simmons College in 1941. In 1961, Betty married her late husband, Giford G. Quarles. She was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church. Through a bequest in her will, Betty created this fund in memory of her father, Thomas G. Haugh. Her fund continues her commitment to our community and the pursuit of education that she enjoyed. The Thomas G. Haugh Memorial Scholarship Fund is to be used for a scholarship to a State College Area High School student pursuing a college degree.
