The Pennsylvania Lions Beacon Lodge Camp was founded in 1948 by Carl Shoemaker whose dream was to create a camp for the blind. Since that time, the Beacon Lodge has provided specialized recreation for campers with special needs. The Milesburg Lions Club mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, and encourage peace. They created this fund as part of Centre Foundation's 40 for 40 campaign, to support attendees of Beacon Lodge Camp in perpetuity.
