Melvin Bennett Fund
Melvin Bennett came to State College in the 1960's and was a library supervisor at Penn State for 16 years. He was also a lay reader at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hawk Run. He is remembered as a quiet man who never talked about his accomplishments - a very private person with a good sense of humor. He established this discretionary fund through a bequest to meet the changing needs of the community. Discretionary funds are used to meet the changing needs of Centre County residents. In a unique role as philanthropic leaders of the community, foundation board members and staff are equipped to understand the changing needs of the community and to focus grants where they can make the most impact over the years.
