Lt. Col. Robert and Lois Barraclough Humanitarian Fund

Although they were both graduates of Bellefonte High School, Lt. Col. Robert Barraclough and his wife, Lois, moved frequently during his 27 years of decorated service with the Air Force.  After studying mining engineering at Penn State, the Colonel was commissioned in 1942 and saw active duty in the European theater and in Trinidad.  In 1949, he completed his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) in Ohio; later, while at the Maxwell AFB in Alabama, he completed the Air Command and Staff College.  Following his tour in Vietnam and until his retirement, the Colonel served as a Minuteman project officer at Air Force Systems Command headquarters at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.  After retiring from military service, he worked at an investment firm in the Washington, DC area as vice president.  The couple shared their final 15 years of retirement in Bellefonte with many friends and family members. As a donor advised fund, the recipient organizations may change each year, depending on where the donor-advisors sees the greatest need.
