Herberta Lundegren Fund

Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. Herberta “Herbie” Lundegren earned her bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees from Bouve/Tufts University, UNC-Greensboro, and the University of Iowa, respectively, before devoting her 40-year career to Penn State. Before retiring with emeritus status in 2000, Dr. Lundegren advised over 150 graduate students, served as President of the Faculty Senate, researched physical fitness of older adults and those with disabilities, earned several awards, and co-authored two books with Dr. Patricia Farrell (former board member of Centre Foundation).  In her spare time, Herbie was a lifelong athlete, enjoying running, golfing, and skiing.  She was also engaged in the community, serving on the boards of Centre Community Hospital and the Nittany Valley Symphony.  At Centre Foundation, Herbie was a member of the Campbell Society and the Anniversary Circle.  Her commitment to our community lives on through this fund that she established by bequeath. This fund, and others which support the operation of Centre Foundation, provides stewardship for the future of Centre County.
