Centre Volunteers in Medicine Breast Health Fund
The Centre Volunteers in Medicine Breast Health Fund will allow the organization to accomplish its mission of increasing early breast cancer screenings and detection activities; developing strategies to help women and men in Centre County to overcome any barriers to obtaining effective breast cancer services, and promoting breast cancer education. Centre Volunteers in Medicine is committed to funding mammograms, biopsies, or other services for Centre County residents who are uninsured or underinsured and who meet financial guidelines. One in eight women will get breast cancer during her lifetime. Every 12 minutes, a woman dies from breast cancer. About one percent of all cancers occur in men, and about 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. We fight every day to reduce these statistics!
