Bill and Georgeann Opdenhoff Memorial Award Fund
This fund was established in memory of Bill and Georgeann Opdenhoff. Bill was a former superintendent of the SCASD, serving from 1993-99. Georgeann was an instructional support teacher at the district's Panorama Village Elementary School, working one-on-one with teachers and children to aid students with learning difficulties. Both worked in the district's elementary schools in the early 1970s. The SCASD chose to honor the memory of the Opdenhoffs by establishing this memorial fund that will be a component of the district's Educational Initiatives Endowment, which was established under Bill's leadership in 1999. The fund will support faculty and staff in developing instructional strategies to help every child find success in school. The annual faculty grants support instructional day activities and curricular experiences not possible within the district's budgetary confines. SCASD Superintendent, Patricia Best, said, “Helping every child find success in school seems to provide a fitting remembrance of Bill and Georgeann's lives as exemplary educators and friends.”
