Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Alex Federman graduated from Penn State in 2013 with a degree in film from the Schreyer Honors College. He was a member of the Onward State staff for three years, serving as Community Manager and as Social Media Manager. Following graduation, Alex pursued his passion for film and worked as a casting assistant on Netflix's House of Cards, and as a production assistant on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the History Channel's Ancient Aliens, among other notable projects. He is remembered as a friend, son, brother, and loyal Penn Stater whose life was tragically cut short. Always the first to arrive at a party, his zest for life and his kindness will be remembered forever. This scholarship will be awarded to the Onward State staff member who best exemplifies Alex's kindness, selflessness, passion, and enthusiasm.
